Sydney! The last city in our trip :( We spent the majority of our time in the city walking around to all the different sites. With loads of coffee shops and fun places to shop, we kept pretty busy. Enjoy some pictures below!
This was a regular sight for me... trying very hard to get internet connection... its not as easy there as it is here. Many times we could connect to the wireless but not to the network/server... FRUSTRATING! I've never been so glad for public libraries with free wifi.
The opera house! Such an interesting design.
Harbour bridge. We (and by this I mean "I") really wanted to climb it, but I thought it was something we could do on our own - not so. I guess you have to go in a group with climbing gear and you have to pay a lot.
We wanted to get out of the sun for a little while, so we got a pitcher of Pimms and some icecream and had a lovely break.
Chinatown. We were hoping this would be a great place to shop, but it was all restaurants.
I'm thinking "really, mom, another picture..?" but she took it anyway.
One of the tallest buildings in Sydney - we didn't go up it, but I would think it has some awesome views.
Yummy mountains of gelato!
The beginning of the botanical gardens in Sydney. Beautiful!
Now begins one of my favorite days in Oz! We went to Featherdale wildlife park and got to see close-up many of the different indigenous creatures in Oz. So fun!
Cassowary - bird that can't fly
Kangaroos! We could pet them! The one on the left is a mamma!
My mamma about to pet the mamma :)
I got to pet my own
This is what koalas look like most of the time. They sleep for up to 20 hours a day because the eucalyptus leaves take so much energy to digest that they conserve it by sleeping.
Baby wallaby
Can you see the 5 creatures in this picture?
Ouch!
Up close and personal! He was way more interested in the branch than me, but at least he was awake.
Kangaroo area
Penguins... didn't know they were in Oz, but I guess so?
Ugh! The infamous fruit bats. Here is a close-up so you can see that they are really ugly and believe me when I say they are also very stinky.
Weird legs!
This is the type of kangaroo I was expecting to see all over Oz, but most of the ones I saw in the wild were much smaller - like the ones I showed you earlier.
This guy is massive! This must be the species that can get up to 6 ft tall.
Albino kangaroos!
Pretty birds. My grandma would have been in heaven.
Best picture of the day!
