The next stop on our trip down the eastern coast of Oz led us to Brisbane. We were only here two nights, but enjoyed our walks around the city.
Weird things that happened to us on the way to Brisbane
- we went through the drive through of McDonalds to get a snack and I ordered a "cheeseburger with ketchup and cheese only" and that is exactly what I got. Only some smarty pants decided that I must have meant it without the BURGER. Thats right. Cheese and ketchup on a bun, please. That one went right to the trash.
- I was randomly selected to do an alcohol breathalyzer test (for the first time ever). This was just after the weird happenings at McDonalds and I wasn't sure what to think. Did I mention that it was around 11am? I guess some people get started early during holiday season in Oz. Anyway, we eventually made it to Brisbane and you can now enjoy the pictures below.
View from our hotel room
Brisbane has a lovely park that is along the river - all sorts of fun water features and a few open theaters.
Part of the park that had this pretty overhanging vines. Mom freaked out when she saw a big spider and refused to walk underneath it just in case it decided to drop out of its strategically placed web onto her shoulders.
You can't see them in this picture, but there were definitely big fruit bats here as well.
Even in the city my dad can spot cool creatures.
The lizard that ran on its hind legs decided to pose for the camera.
Check this tree out. Its call a Banyan tree. It grows from a main trunk, then drops shoots from its branches that reach the ground and form new supplementary trunks. Some of the branches from the main trunk are literally horizontal and are really big around, but the extra trunks help support the weight.
Ferry ride along the river on the last day.
Selfie of me and mom :)
